Hannam University (President Lee Kwang-Sup) announced on the 16th that it has been selected as a host institution for the "2023 Startup Campus" sponsored by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

The Startup Campus is a program that selects universities with excellent startup infrastructure and collaborative networks to support the development of the local startup ecosystem and commercialization of university startups. This year, Hannam University, Sungkyunkwan University, and Gyeongsang National University were selected as the three universities in the country.

Hannam University will receive an annual government support fund of approximately KRW 8.2 billion for five years, totaling KRW 41 billion, to support the discovery and cultivation of startup entrepreneurs, aiming to support 425 companies, generate KRW 240 billion in sales, create 2,300 jobs, attract KRW 47 billion in investment, and produce 15 listed companies in five years.

In addition, Daejeon City (Mayor Lee Chang-Woo) will provide a total of KRW 1.25 billion in corresponding funds for five years to support startup initiatives and actively foster a startup infrastructure and talent development to anchor new technologies generated in the Daedeok Research and Development Special Zone and drive the regional economy.

Hannam University has signed agreements with 46 startup-related agencies in the region, including Daejeon City, and plans to select more than 85 startups annually and over 425 in five years, providing tailored startup support programs such as entrepreneurship education, prototype production, marketing support, investment attraction, global programs, and local startup events.

Hannam University aims to become a "hub institution for regional economic growth through startups" by implementing three major strategic goals: ▲education of startup-specialized human resources ▲creation of innovative growth at each stage of startup development ▲maximization of corporate performance and value. The head of the Hannam University Startup Support Team, Lee Sung-Kwang, said, "Based on the accumulated know-how and infrastructure in startups for more than 10 years, our university will become a hub institution for startup growth in Daejeon, the center of science and transportation, and contribute to the development of the regional economy."
