Hannam University (President Lee Kwang-Sup) is taking the lead in the robot industry, a major business in Daejeon.
According to the Hannam University Industry-Academia Cooperation Office on the 8th, it was selected for the 'Logistics/Defense Service Robot Industry Commercialization Support Project', a regional industry promotion project of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the only regional university to be selected. With this project selection, it will receive a total of KRW 500 million in business support for a year.
The robot support project that Hannam University was selected for aims to support the commercialization of new technologies developed by robot companies in Daejeon, not only expanding domestic sales but also promoting cutting-edge defense industry growth, including overseas expansion.
Daejeon City is a robot industry hub where about 30% of drone production companies in Korea are located, and it continues to focus its investments on the robot industry.
Numerous promising companies, such as cooperative robot "Rainbow Robotics," autonomous driving-based "order picking," logistics robot development company "Twiny," and the highest level unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturer "UCON System," are growing in Daejeon, including those invested in by Samsung Electronics.
To successfully promote this project, Hannam University plans to support the development of industrial-academic cooperation and product exports by collaborating with Daejeon's leading logistics and defense service robot companies and conducting joint research and development, along with advanced product development, linked to the recently awarded 'K-Smart Logistics ODA Project'.
Professor Shin Yoon-sik of Hannam University, who is in charge of the project, said, "As e-commerce expands globally, the demand for logistics robots worldwide is rapidly increasing. With the expected growth of the military robot industry, including unmanned aerial vehicles, through the expansion of K-Bangsan exports, we will play a leading role in the practical implementation and globalization of the robot industry, a leading industry in the region."
