At 10 a.m. on the 7th, the "2023 Japan Sister University Korean Language and Culture Program Welcome Ceremony" was held at Hannam University's Maker Space.
This program, organized by the Hannam University Korean Language Education Center and the International Relations Team, sees the participation of 60 students from 7 sister universities in Japan, including Nanzan University. Over the course of three weeks, they will engage in Korean language lessons, special lectures on Korean studies, and cultural experiences, including visits to Jeonju, Gyeongju, and Seoul. After being halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic since 2019, the program has been resumed this year after a four-year hiatus.
During the welcome ceremony, Kim Hong-jin, the head of the Korean Language Education Center, and Lee Kwang-sup, the president of Hannam University, delivered welcoming speeches. There was also a time to introduce and greet the trainees, as well as a session to guide them through the three-week training program.
President Lee Kwang-sup said, "Hannam University and our Japanese sister universities have been conducting active exchange programs for a long time. However, they had been paused for a considerable period due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic." He added, "Given that this training program is resuming, we have made thorough preparations. We hope the Japanese students will have a meaningful time here."
