  • Students of foreign nationalities, whose parents are both non-Korean nationals, are eligible to apply: no limit in recruiting number of students.
  • Foreign students are not eligible to apply for any major offered at the College of Education and nursing major as well.
  • Architectural Design is a 5 year course and Architectural Engineering is 4 year course at the Department of Architecture of the College of Engineering.
  • A total of 7 majors at the College of Engineering marked as “*” follow the “Accreditation Program” recommended by the ABEEK(Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea). All freshmen enrolling in College of Engineering must participate in the “Accreditation Program”.


Applicant Qualifications

* International Applicants must satisfy ALL of the following requirements.

  1. Applicants should be non-Korean national whose parents are both non-Korean nationals.
  2. Graduate (or graduate-to-be) of high school who completed overall education courses of elementary school, middle school and high school for more than 12 years
    • - In case the country of the applicant has a school system of less than 12 years, applicant who completed overall courses of elementary, middle and high school can apply.
    • - A student of more than two foreign nationalities who completed overall education courses of elementary school, middle school and high school for more than 12 years and has the record of transfer to a school in another third country can also apply if his/her academic years are less than six months (one semester) short of the requirement due to the different school systems among countries.
  3. Applicants (except for applicants in Linton Global College) must have the 3rd level certificate or above in Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK).



Evaluation

Applicants will be accepted for admission through a comprehensive evaluation of her academic ability, achievements and development potential, based on submitted documents.

  10. An equivalent of family register in Korea issued by foreign government agency (original copy)
  11. Certificate of the 3rd level of Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK)

    Option 1: Self/Family Supported
    1. Certificate of bank balance over US $10,000 in your name or the name of a family member which has been deposited for more than one month by the date of your application is received
    2. If the bank account carries the name of your family member you need to provide a document certifying that you are a member of that family.

     

    Option 2: Financial Guarantor
    1. Certificate of financial guarantee (use the form provided by the university)
    2. Certificate of bank balance over US $10,000 of the financial guarantor, which has been deposited for more than 2 months by the date of your application is received
    3. Business Registration Certificate or Employment Certificate of financial guarantor
    4. Property Tax Payment Certificate of financial guarantor

    1. ※ The financial guarantor should be a person of the same nationality as the student, or a resident in Korea.
    2. ※ When submitting a certificate of the guarantor’s bank deposit balance, applicants should submit the following together:

      • - Guarantor’s certificate of employment or a copy of the guarantor’s certificate of business proprietor registration
      • - Guarantor’s certificate of taxation for property
      • - Guarantor’s affidavit of support for the student

Important Notifications

  1. In addition to the documents specified in this guide, other additional documents may be required when necessary, in order to confirm the applicant’s eligibility and information submitted.
  2. Applicants applying to more than one university in Korea should register at only one. Multiple registrations will be automatically cancelled by Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
  3. The university reserves the right to request more specific documents from the applicant individually if necessary.
  4. If name(s) other than the one on the current application is used, provide proof of verification of name(s).
  5. All documents submitted to Office of Admission cannot be altered after submission and will not be returned to the applicants.
  6. All documents submitted for admission must be originals in principle. Diplomas and transcripts must be originals with apostil attached. Diplomas and transcripts can be copies with apostil attached, alternatively transcripts and diplomas can be verified by the local Korean consulate.
  7. All documents submitted must be either in English or Korean. Documents in any other languages must have a notarized translation attached to it.
  8. If there is any false presentation or matters which are untrue in the application form or in documents for admission, the applicant will be held responsible. Applicants will be excluded from the application process, and admission will be nullified immediately thereafter.
  9. In case documents for admission were not delivered due to postal problems or for other reasons or the applicant couldn’t submit the documents, the applicant will be held responsible.
  10. Applicants who have failed to submit the required documents until the deadline will be rejected.
  11. If you have attended junior high school or high school in Korea at any length of period, submit an Official Korean Transcript.
  12. Students who entered the university with TOPIK level 3 are required to obtain level 4 or above before they graduate.
  13. Evaluation of an applicant's application packet will be done continuously and collectively during the admission process by reviewing and verifying academic records, immigration related documents, and various certifications. Notification of the results will be done by Office of Admission at ibsi.hnu.kr on an individual basis.
