The Fulbright Foundation AIEA (American International Education Administrator) delegation, which has produced scholarship recipients in both Korea and the U.S. for over 70 years, visited Hannam University.
According to Hannam University on the 22nd, the Fulbright delegation visited the university on the 20th and had a discussion with President Lee Kwang-Sup about the status of internationalization at Hannam University and their opinions on the Korean higher education system.
At the discussion that day, Professor Candi Cann (from Baylor University in the U.S.), who was invited to Hannam University through the Fulbright Foundation, made a presentation on the differences and characteristics of the university education systems in Korea and the U.S. from the perspective of a U.S. university professor. This received a favorable response from the visiting delegation.
Professor Cann introduced the delegation to various university administrative systems in Korea that differ from the U.S., such as the automatic attendance system, relative grading system, and online lecture system.
The delegation showed great interest in the KSSP (Korean Studies Summer Program), a program operated by Hannam University during the summer vacation period that offers Korean language and culture courses to students from overseas sister universities and recognizes them for credit.
This AIEA delegation is comprised of a total of 12 people, including Amy Bowes from Duke University, which belongs to the Ivy League in the U.S. They are scheduled to visit 15 universities in Korea, including Hannam University, Seoul National University, and KAIST, until the 24th.
President Lee Kwang-Sup said, "The visit by the Fulbright international education administrators will be an opportunity to enhance the internationalization capabilities of Hannam University," and revealed, "Our university has been promoting more active international exchanges as a global university since the Covid-19 pandemic."
The Fulbright Foundation, which first operated an educational exchange program between Korea and the U.S. in 1950, has produced over 7,300 Korean and American scholarship recipients over 70 years, and supports scholarships in various fields related to education, such as graduate students, professors, experts, and administrators."
