Hannam University's football team (Head Coach Kyu-seon Park) has lifted the championship cup two years in a row in the 'College Football League for Freshmen and Sophomores'.
According to Hannam University on the 17th, they won the finals in the '18th College Football League for Freshmen and Sophomores Baekdu-daegan Event' held at Taebaek Sports Complex in Gangwon Province on the 16th, after a penalty shootout against Ajou University.
In a tightly contested match against Ajou University, Hannam took the lead 1-0 with a goal from Min-jae Kim in the 38th minute of the second half. The game went into extra time after Ajou University scored an equalizer during injury time in the second half. In the 9th minute of the first half of extra time, Seung-bae Jeong of Hannam University took the lead with a goal, only for Ajou University to equalize again in the second half of extra time, making the score 2-2.
The highs and lows of both teams were decided in the penalty shootout. Hannam University won 3-2, securing their second consecutive championship. In this tournament, Jun-seo Oh from Hannam University received the Best Player award, Sang-eun Yoon received the Defensive award, and Yong-beom Kim received the Goalkeeper award. Additionally, Head Coach Kyu-seon Park and Coach Pyeong-jin Kim received the Best Coach awards.
Hannam University has continued the 'winning' fervor for the past two years, winning three times. They won last year's '17th College Football League for Freshmen and Sophomores', this year's spring '59th Chun-gye College Football League Tongyeong Event', and now this tournament, rewriting the history of Hannam University football.
Head Coach Kyu-seon Park said, "I'm very happy that our players have endured tough training and have won the tournament for two consecutive years. I believe the enthusiastic support from the members of our university gave great strength to our players.
