Hannam University elects Seung-Chul Lee, Professor Emeritus, as the 18th President.

On November 28th, the Daejeon Christian Educational Foundation, the governing body of Hannam University (Chairman Jung-Ho Shin), held a board meeting and elected Seung-Chul Lee (69, pictured), a professor emeritus in the Department of Public Administration, as the 18th president of Hannam University. His term will be for four years, starting from March 1, 2024.

President-elect Seung-Chul Lee earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Public Administration from Chung-Ang University and his Ph.D. from the University of Konstanz, Germany. He joined Hannam University as a professor in 1988 and has held various positions, including Director of the Institute of Social Science, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Director of Planning and Coordination, Dean of the College of Social Sciences, and Dean of the Graduate School of Social Culture, Administrative Welfare, and National Defense Strategy. He has also been active externally, serving as a member of the Local Administration Innovation Evaluation Committee of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, a review committee member of the Military Manpower Administration, an advisory committee member for the Army, Navy, and Joint Chiefs of Staff, and president of the Adenauer Academic Exchange Association.

President-elect Lee has organized various seminars and cooperation projects with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Germany. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Konstanz in Germany, a visiting professor at the European Studies Institute at the University of Hamburg, and a researcher at the Berlin Urban Development Institute, invited by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, following the first general elections in Germany after unification and a visit to the East German region.
President-elect Lee stated, "It is important to have a united community spirit to overcome the challenges faced by regional universities, such as the decrease in the school-age population. Through innovative communication with the university community, including faculty, staff, and students, I aim to achieve a new leap forward for Hannam University."
